Dr. Simon Zagorski-Thomas worked for 25 years as a composer, sound engineer and producer with artists as varied as Phil Collins, Mica Paris, London Community Gospel Choir, Bill Bruford, The Mock Turtles, Courtney Pine and the Balanescu Quartet. He is a Reader at the London College of Music, UWL (LCM), director of the annual Art of Record Production Conference and is chairman of the Association for the Study of the Art of Record Production. He has just co-edited, with Professor Simon Frith, a collection of academic chapters and professional commentary on record production for the Ashgate Press and is preparing a monograph on the Musicology of Record Production for Cambridge University Press. Simon is currently involved in research on performance in the studio both as the Principle Investigator on the AHRC Research Network on that subject and as a Visiting Fellow at Cambridge University on Professor John Rink’s project for the AHRC funded Centre for Musical Performance as Creative Practice.
